Younger MTBers could readily ride parts of this course as long as they have a reasonable level of riding confidence.
Mount Major is located just south of Dookie and is located on land which is part of Dookie agricultural college and also used by various communications companies to broadcast to the surrounding area due to the height of the mountain. The trails are maintained by Goulburn Valley MTB Club.
When you get to the property gate, you are faced with an escarpment which the steeper and more difficult trails descend. There are also a number of longer trails which traverse the lower face of the mountain and gradually ascend and descend the mountain.
I have not taken photos of the trails but have included a video of some of these lower less difficult trails. There are quite a few photos and videos on the Goulburn Valley Mountain Bike Club website. Unfortunately on the day I was there, there was an absolute gale blowing so I didn't get to cover all of the trails. Have a look at the video and the GVMTBC website and it will give you an idea of the trails.
One thing to note is that the clay in the area can be quite greasy when wet so take care if conditions are like this. One other thing is that there are quite a few parts of the trail which are off camber and some of us tend to get a bit used to riding flat or bermed trails. So watch the uphill pedal on off camber rocky areas to avoid surprises when travelling at speed (which you will).
